Boorus are iron.

Boorus or 'rus in soyspeak are a category of website meant for dumping images. Boorus were originally created by weeaboos to dump their hentai[it just is, ok?], but have since been used for non-tranime purposes.

Notable boorus[edit | edit source]

Boorus marked with a cross (✝) are dead.
  • soybooru.booru.org✝ - The first soyjak 'ru made by former 'ki janny Syjck, who happened to be the only janny. Once he disappeared, it was spammed with NAS and porn and was then deleted by the booru.org admin on August 25, 2021 for violating their ToS.
  • OnionsBooru✝ - The successor to soybooru.booru.org, founded by lolkekkeklmaolmaolmaoxdhaha. Wiped on January 15, 2022 because xe is a tranny.
  • SuBooru✝ - The successor to OnionsBooru, was shut down on March 26, 2022 due to the owner getting tired of tripfag drama and hating the then-current state of the sharty.
  • SoyBooru - The successor to SuBooru and the current soyjak 'ru. Created on March 31, 2022, it is a revival of OnionsBooru.
  • JartyBooru - The 'ru for jartssycucks. It's only used for dumping 'lita, porn and goonslop, don't go on there. Not allowed to be linked to on the 'ki due to hosting lolicon content.
  • Shembooru✝ - The shoallycuck booru. Mostly similar to SoyBooru except it allowed shoally-related NAS.

NAS/non-soysphere-related[edit | edit source]

  • Danbooru - The one that started it all, is used for dumping tranime trash.
  • e621.net - Where furfags go to goon. Trolling there is next to impossible thanks to the anti-fun trannyjannies being online 24/7.
  • e926.net - A mirror of e621 except with no goonslop. Still brimstone.
  • rule34.paheal.net and rule34.xxx - This is where gooners get their (non-furry) drawn porn.
  • safebooru.org - Rule34 but without the goonslop and everything is safe for work.
  • swaggerswithattitude.com - Created by iFunny immigrant PETRIXXX as a safe haven for iFunny users after the mid-2024 iFunny banwave.
  • derpibooru.org - An MLP booru often used by Lee to track down leebait origins, includes unique ratings such as Suggestive, Semi-Grimdark, Grimdark, and Grotesque.

Newfag's guide to boorus[edit | edit source]

This guide has an emphasis on SoyBooru due to it being the soyjak booru, but it can apply to any booru website.

Tagging[edit | edit source]

Tags are case-insensitive, generally lowercase and separated with spaces (like MediaWiki page titles, underscores are used on the tags themselves instead of spaces). Most boorus have the following tag categories:

  • Meta tags are usually orange, and are used for marking things that are booru-related such as the image resolution or if the image is a duplicate.
  • Character tags are usually green, and are used to specify what characters appear on the image. On SoyBooru they are used to mark soyjak variants.
    • Subvariant tags on SoyBooru are similarly used to mark soyjak subvariants.
  • Copyright or series tags are usually purple, and are used to specify which piece of media the characters on the image come from. On SoyBooru they are used to mark which series of soyjaks the soyjak belongs to, such as squirreljaks or ESL pedo 'jaks.
  • Artist tags are usually red, and are (obviously) used to mark who made the image.
  • General tags are usually blue, and are used for everything else.

On Shimmie-based boorus like SoyBooru, non-general tags are prefixed, e.g. meta:not_a_soyjak, variant:cobson, series:esl_pedo_league and artist:swede.

When uploading, put as many appropriate tags on your post as possible so that your image is easy to find. Note that on SoyBooru you need an account to add tags, and when you upload anonymously your post will be tagless.

Rating[edit | edit source]

Most boorus have three ratings:

  • Safe or General is stuff (You) can generally see in public without getting in trouble.
  • Questionable is stuff that is debatably worksafe; this includes sexualized images that aren't full-on porn.
  • Explicit is most of the time porn or gore.

(You) can exclude non-worksafe images from searches by using rating:g (Danbooru) or rating:safe (Shimmie); this is useful if you're browing porn-focused boorus.

On SoyBooru, make sure to set the appropriate rating after uploading.

Image approval[edit | edit source]

A lot of boorus, including SoyBooru, have image approval which means an approver must approve your post before it becomes public; this is usually to prevent rule-breaking or illegal shit from being uploaded. On SoyBooru rejected images redirect to the home page.
