Soylitics is the study of how soysphere administrations run their sites and the beliefs of the said site's userbase. Administrators often use some type of soylitical philosophy to guide their decision-making. Soylitical philosophies often vary between administrators and the importance of different topics in a soylitical philosophy depends greatly on the board, the board's userbase, and the administrator's personal tastes.

The emergence of soylitical ideologies on soyjak.party reflects a modern exploration of soycietal organization beyond the traditional left-right auth-lib spectrum.

Types of Soylitical philosophies[edit | edit source]

Shartywise, soylitics can be conservative (preserving IAS and board culture), progressive (encouraging NAS and new/offsite topics), rulecuck and norulecuck, bright, grey, and dark.

Norulescuck[edit | edit source]

Norulescuck philosophies focus on user freedom and freedom of speech. The rules are usually lax and bans are handed out in rare cases. Critics often cite that posting quality can be lower due to the higher tolerance of bad posts.

A 100% norulecucked board would be complete anarchy as there would be no leaders and zero mod regulation. Anyone would be allowed to post anything including gruesome law-breaking material and say anything they want.

List of mostly Norulescuck philosophies:

Rulescuck[edit | edit source]

Rulescuck philosophies curtail authority in the name of rules. Critics often find that jannies are overbearing and ban criticism. This is characterized by harsh bans for even small misdemeanors. There are two different kinds of rulecuckery:

  • User opinion/feedback is discouraged, criticism is silenced, admin/mod bootlicking is encouraged
  • Heavy censorship of different types of content, such as pornography, gore, spamming, trolling, etc.

A 100% rulecucked board would be a complete dictatorship as the admin or mods are worshipped by users and all forms of resistance are met with severe punishment. There would also be heavy censorship of certain topics and no freedom of speech.

List of mostly Rulescuck philosophies:

Independents / Semi-rulecuck[edit | edit source]

Independent philosophies fall outside of just Progressivism or Conservatism. They usually fall somewhere in between both of the other philosophies, but usually have extra perspectives, earning them the name of semi-rulecuck. List of Semi-rulecuck philosophies:

Conservatism[edit | edit source]

Conservative philosophies look to preserve site tradition and are generally against anything new/offsite. Gatekeeping the site from outsiders is one of the main ideas.

A 100% conservative board would be a super secret club with traditions and posting styles that never change. Anything new is met with extreme hostility.

Progressivism[edit | edit source]

Progressive philosophies support new/offsite culture and spreading the site tradition to outside communities as a form of conquering/expanding.

A 100% progressive board would have no original site culture or traditions and would be easily publically accessible and full of new users.

Dark, Grey and Bright ideological subvariants[edit | edit source]

From left to right, up to down, we see a Bright Sootist, a Grey Kuzist, a Dollist (Marge? Even before Doll was a thing?), a JAnonist, a Captain Coalist and a Choodist explaining their rationale for becoming the basedjak.party administrator. Image dates back to 07/09/2022.

The best known examples are Dark Sootism, Dark Kuzism, Grey Kuzism, and Bright Sootism.

Dark Sootism is a soylitical viewpoint that believes that Soot's opinions on IAS, politics, board culture and anything else is the final word. Dark Sootists also believe that effective moderation should be carried out to preserve and enforce the board culture and traditions, apparently contradicting Soot's light moderation. They also believe that Kuz's succession was illegitimate and that Soot was forced to sell the site thanks to 'p spam, and that Soot is the rightful admin who should return.

Bright Sootism is a soylitical viewpoint that believes that the best course of action for a board is one that is ruled with as few rules as possible. Hardline Bright Sootists also believe that IAS should make up the majority of topics on the site and that /soy/ ought to be 100% IAS-only, complete with bans on selfinserting and blogposting. Bright Sootism is also the belief that the only rules a board should have are ones that deal with NAS and illegal content. Bright Sootism is considered by some to be the most Soot-like philosophy.

Grey Kuzism is the belief that moderation should be moderate, somewhere in between the views of regular Kuzism and Dollism. Grey Kuzists also believe that some offsite culture can be introduced to /soy/, but that some offsite topics should be restricted to /qa/. Grey Kuzists are also against the deletion of OC and the hard moderation of shitposting, but still support some moderation to curb rulebreakers. They also understand that the chances of Kuz returning as admin are extremely low. Grey Kuzism can be considered a compromise philosophy between Dollism and Kuzism.

Dark Kuzism, on the other hand, believes that Kuz is the rightful admin of the Party and should return. Dark Kuzists believe that Kuzism is the only acceptable moderation style for /soy/ and that Kuz should use his powers to fully restore /soy/ to its former glory. Dark Kuzists believe that Kuz should carry out a "coup" and "retake" the Party as he did with soyak.party. Dark Kuzists also believe that the entire current moderation ought to be purged.

In conclusion, Bright, Grey, and Dark ideologies are subvariants that determine the degree of extremism of their particular ideologies. Dark ideologies tend to be more extreme in the direction of rulecuckoldry, while bright ideologies tend to be more extreme in the direction of radicalism and puritanism, while greyism means moderation, a halfway compromise between the extremes. Greyism should not be confused as "moderated brightism/darkism". It is NOT a spectrum.

Glossary[edit | edit source]

The intent of this glossary is to briefly explain terms, and outline an array of stances that an Admin can take. This list is incomplete; You VILL expand it.

  • Pro - In favor of...
  • Anti - Against...
  • Bright - Extremist, libertarian; fewer restrictions are to be set on the community, not to be confused with (leftist) anarchy.
  • Gray - Centrist.
  • Dark - Extremist, authoritarian; more restrictions are to be set on the community.
  • Pro-Favoritism - Favors special treatment of certain Soyjak variants and NAS, over others.
    • Bright: Listen to the community if they want a variant banned. Dark: Ban whatever admin doesn't like.
  • Pro-NAS - In favor of NAS. Not necessarily anti-IAS.
    • Bright: No restrictions on NAS on /soy/. Gray: NAS is not prohibited on /soy/, but may be deleted. Dark: Actively encourage NAS on /soy/.
  • Pro-IAS - In favor of IAS. Not necessarily anti-NAS, but very similar.
    • Bright: IAS is welcome with open arms, whether forced or not. Gray: IAS is welcome, as long as it is not a forced meme, or antimatter. Dark: Anti-NAS on all boards, absolutely no NAS on /soy/ whatsoever.
  • Pro-Speech - Favors freedom of spech on the Sharty.
  • Pro-Spam - In favor of allowing, or encouraging, spam, by making exceptions to, or eliminating, Rule 4.
  • Pro-Interaction / Extrovert / Pro-Tripfag - In favor of frequent interaction between staff and the community. Interaction is defined by bantext and tripfagging.
    • Bright: Only admin tripfags. Gray: All top-level and mid-level staff tripfag, with no rebuke. Dark: Even low-level staff, such as janitors, can tripfag and send bantexts, at will.
  • Pro-Security - In favor of increased security measures on the Sharty (i.e. captchas).
  • Pro-Dox - Allows and encourages the act of doxxing.
    • Primary Example: swedishwin.com (created in response to the ban on doxxes)
    • Bright: Create /dox/, a dedicated doxing board. Gray: Move dox threads to /raid/. Dark: Only the admin's favorite doxxes are allowed.
